EN: It all started 2 years ago when we first visited Lefkada. What’s Lefkada? Well, let me tell you, Lefkada is a small island from Greece, an island that we visited 2 years ago, then last year and again this year. Why does one have to go to one place so many times? Good question! and the answer is simple … my boyfriend is in love with this island, and me? Well me, I’m just in love with him :). See? Simple as that.

Anyway, I need to say that Lefkada is one of the most beautiful islands I had ever seen.  The beaches are amazing, and it has so many : sand, pebbles, rocks, you name it! It has it all!

I honestly don’t even know  were to start. We’ve been there so many times, and visited every inch of the island that I feel like I won’t be able to capture in an article all the things you can experience over there.

But fist things first let’s start with the accommodation. First year was a bit hectic, it was a last moment decision to go to Greece, and because we went there with some friends we couldn’t decide on a place to stay and that’s why, there we were, Lefkada island, 36 degrees, and no where to go. Our luck was that it didn’t took us to long to find a place, and yep, it was near the beach.

Second year I went just with my boyfriend,we booked a nice hotel, near the beach, with a swimming pool,which we never used, because why waste your time at the swimming pool when there are so many places you can explore on the island?

And finally this year it was a last minute decision that went like this: My boyfriend ‘What are we doing this week? My mom said it will rain and it will be awful…’

Me: ‘I don’t know, what do you suggest?’

BF: ‘Let’s go to Greece!’

And that was pretty much it. It sounded like a good idea, I mean I wouldn’t spend a week at home if I knew it will rain, so in half hour I packed my things, said my goodbyes and road trip people!!! And lucky us we found a room available where we stayed at our first visit there.

Enough with the boring stuff, let’s hear about the island!!! Lefkada is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea,with small resorts like Lygia, Nikiana and the largest Nidri.

Its highest point is the mountain Stavrota, 1,158 metres  above sea level,situated in the middle of the island.

   

What to do on the island?

If you don’t want to get sunburns, I ‘ll suggest you wake up in the morning, go to the beach, and maybe take a nap there and get a nice tan in the same time.

     

For lunch time you can go visit the island and find a nice place to hide from the burning sun and man eat a bit cause you need your energy. Are you one of those food critics who can barely find a place to eat? Don’t you worry, you won’t complain about their food.

In the middle of the island, there is a restaurant ‘Panoramic view’, and trust me the name says it all. The food is amazing and the view is like the yin to your yang, and believe me, you will leave all your problems behind, and for a moment everything seems perfect in your life.

 

Around 4 or 5 o’clock we used to go back to the beach, or just to drive around the island to find more places to visit and explore. The best part here is that you have so many choices, you can go to a different beach every day, don’t get stuck in one place, explore!

 

The most amazing beach on the island is, in my opinion, Egremni. You can either go there by boat or if not, you have access from the car park via 347 steps, crazy right? I would suggest to go to this beach in the afternoon, cause we made the mistake of doing there once in the morning, and by lunch time obviously we had to climb all those steps up. Now, let me tell you that I honestly thought that my life will end there lol. Imagine this, 36 degrees or more and you climbing 347 steps, best combo ever!!! Neah ..

 

If you are a windsurfing fan, you’ll have Vasiliki,and also from there you can take ferries to Kefalonia and Ithaca.

For a night out you can always choose Nidri or Lefkada Town. Restaurants, bars, clubs, you name it, it’s all there. You can always join one of their boat parties as well, and see how greeks enjoy their life.

 

RO: Totul a inceput acum 2 ani, cand am vizitat pentru prima data Lefkada. Ce e Lefkada? Ei bine, e o insula a Greciei, pe care am avut ocazia sa o vizitam acum doi ani, acum un an si anul acesta, bineinteles. De ce ar merge cineva de atatea ori in acelasi loc? Buna intrebare, iar raspunsul e cat se poate de simplu … prietenul meu e innebunit dupa aceasta insula, iar eu? Ei bine, eu sunt innebunita dupa el 🙂 simplu ca ‘buna ziua’ !

Oricum trebuie sa recunosc  ca e una din cele mai frumoase insule pe care le-am vazut. Plajele sunt superbe: nisip, pietricele, bolovani, gasesti tot ce vrei.

Sincera sa fiu nu prea stiu de unde sa incep. Am fost acolo de atatea ori si am vizitat fiecare coltisor al insulei, incat am impresia ca nu o sa pot acapara intr-un articol, toate lucrurile pe care le poti face acolo.

Totusi sa incep prin a va zice cate ceva despre cazare. In primul an am fost in Grecia cu ceva prieteni si din cauza ca nu ne puteam hotari asupra unui loc, iata’ne in Lefkada la 36 de grade, cautand cazare. Norocul nostru a fost ca in nici o jumatate de ora am gasit o pensiune aproape de plaja.

In cel de al doilea an am fost doar eu si prietenul, iar de data asta am zis ca nu ne riscam si am facut booking dinainte la un hotel aproape de malul marii, cu piscina, la care nu am stat nici macar o zi. Si sincer cine ar sta la piscina cand sunt atatea plaje de vizitat?

 

                  Nidri Lefkada

Anul acesta a fost o decizie de ultim moment de a veni aici. Totul a fost ceva de genul:

Andrei:’ Ce facem saptamana asta ca mama a zis ca vin ploile?’

Eu: ‘ Nu stiu, ce propui?’

Andrei: ‘ Haide sa mergem in Grecia!’

Si cam atat ne’a trebuit. Parea o idee buna, acum pe bune, de ce as sta o saptamana acasa daca stiu ca vin ploile? Intr-o jumatate de ora am facut bagajul si am plecat la drum. Norocul nostru a fost ca am gasit o camera libera in acelasi loc unde am stat in primul an in care am vizitat Lefkada.

Destul cu lucrurile plictisitoare si haide sa aflam putin despre insula. Lefkada e o insula greceasca in Marea Ionica, cu numeroase statiuni precum Lygia, Nikiana, sau cea mai mare Nidri.

Cel mai inalt punct al sau il constituie muntele Stavrota, situat in mijlocul insulei si masurand 1,158 metri deasupra nivelului apei.

Ce poti sa faci pe insula?

Daca nu vrei sa te trezesti ars de soare, ti-as sugera sa te trezesti de dimineata si sa mergi la plaja si de ce nu trage un pui de somn in timp ce te bronzezi.

La pranz poti sa mergi sa te plimbi pe insula si sa gasesti un loc unde sa te ascunzi de soarele arzator, iar cu ocazia asta poti sa si mananci ceva sa prinzi putina energie. Daca esti unul dintre acei oameni carora nu le convine sa manance orice, te asigur ca nu o sa fii dezamagit de mancarea greceasca, oriunde ai merge.

In mijlocul insulei o sa gasesti un restaurant numit Panoramic view, numele nu are nevoie de nici o descriere, privelistea parca e rupta din poveste,iti ia gandul de la orice problema ai avea si pentru un moment viata ta pare perfecta.

In jurul orei 4 sau 5, obisnuiam sa mergem din nou la plaja, sau sa ne plimbim pe insula, sa vedem ce alte locuri mai avem de vizitat. Partea cea mai buna e ca sunt multe plaje de vizitat, asa ca nu ramane blocat intr-un singur loc, exploreaza!

 

Una dintre cele mai frumoase plaje ale insulei e plaja Egremni. Poti sa ajungi la plaja cu barca, sau cu masina, iar de la parcare o sa ai de coborat 347 de scari. Cel mai bine ar fii sa mergi acolo dupa masa. Noi am facut marea greseala de a merge dimineata, iar la pranz imaginati’va ca am avut de urcat 347 de trepti, iar la 36 de grade, sau cate au fost, am crezut ca acolo imi si dau duhul.

Daca iti place sa faci windsurfing, poti sa mergi in Vasiliki si tot de aici poti lua feribotul catre insula Kefalonia sau Ithaca.

Seara poti sa mergi in Nidri sau in orasul Lekfada, unde gasesti restaurante, baruri, cluburi, tot ce vrei tu. Poti oricand sa iei parte la petrecerile care au loc pe vapoarele din port si sa vezi cum se distreaza grecii cu adevarat.
